When will the bikes be available to buy?
We are in discussions with potential manufacturers at present. Additionally, our designs and patents are registered across the world, so the legal work involved in supporting this takes a while.
However, we hope to make some exciting announcements later in 2015.
How much will they cost?
The final price of the bikes will be set by the manufacturer. But, we have worked from the start to make the bikes as affordable as possible.
The ‘Mid range’ bike has been designed from scratch for economic production. Unlike other designs, we use standard mountain bike wheels and components. Additionally, we have used standardised parts. For example, the axles are interchangeable on all 4 corners.
Who can use the bikes?
The following have successfully ridden our bikes:
- Spinal injured riders with lesions up to T2.
- Double lower limb amputees
- Triple amputee (requires single hand brake adaptation)
- Able bodied riders from novices to professional cyclists.
Will I fit in the bike?
Tested by riders
- 5’ (152cm) to 6’3” (191cm)
- 8 st (50 kg) to 17 st (110kg)
All found the bike comfortable
Where could I use the bike?
If there’s a downhill trail with reasonable access to both top and bottom, it’s likely the trail will be suitable for the bikes.
Bikes have been used in a range of locations including Snowdon (Wales highest mountain) Bike Park Wales, Antur Stiniog, Black Mountains Cycle Centre, Afan Argoed, Cwmcarn, Forest of Dean, Llantrisant, Kilvey Hill, Lee Quarry and Finale Liguria in Italy.
New venues become available to ride on a regular basis. In the UK both Forestry Commission England and Natural Resources Wales have worked hard to ensure the accessibility of trails on their land.
Approval has been given to use the bikes on gondolas and chair lifts throughout France with venues such as Metabief, Chamonix, Les Arc, Morzine, Les Gets and many others regularly opening their facilities to all abilities.
Facilities exist globally for our bikes.
Why are there two different bikes?
We set ourselves the brief of designing an affordable bike that could be used by as wide a range of riders as possible. Thus the ‘Mid- Range’ bike was conceived. This bike uses ‘patent applied for’ technologies and in noticeably outperforms similar products. Hi quality bike companies such as HOPE and Renthal and MRP have supplied components for this bike and as such it runs similar technologies to good mountain bikes.
Part of the funding for Project ENDURO was based on researching new technologies. In doing so we developed cutting edge suspension designs that were worthy of global patent applications. These developments have been integrated into the ‘Elite bike’. We believe this to be the ‘ultimate’ 4 wheel gravity bike. In the right hands this product is capable of high speeds on rough terrain and exceptional cornering grip. Additionally, technologies such as Carbon Fibre Seating and handle bars were added. Despite all these ‘cutting edge’ developments the use of standardised parts and design for efficient manufacture has been incorporated.
